Ushr regards its mapping technology as a rich road knowledge base that will serve as "a new sensor" in autonomous drive systems, writes Megan Lampinen

High-definition mapping technology will be essential for the development of safe autonomous vehicles (AVs), but it’s mapping at an unprecedented level of precision. These are no simple navigation maps to guide a route from A to B, but rather deep sources of information on everything to do with the road surface, the number of lanes, the trajectory of lane markings, delineators, signage, and so on.
